Does Insurance Cover Online Therapy?

Yes, most insurance plans cover a portion of the cost of online therapy.

Do you accept insurance? If so, what insurance plans do you accept?

Yes, I accept insurance. Currently, I accept Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Carefirst (BCBS), and Optum.

What if you don’t accept my insurance?

Clients who use their out-of-network benefits will be sent a Superbill to submit to their insurance company for payment. Payment is due at the time therapy services are rendered. Clients don't have to send a superbill to their insurance company, and they can pay for their sessions in full without trying to get reimbursed.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill, which is also called a Statement for Insurance Reimbursement, is a form that I give to clients so that their insurance company will pay them back if they use out-of-network benefits. Similar to a statement, this document also includes additional details such as diagnostic codes. Please note that reimbursement is not guaranteed by your insurance company.

What are out-of-network benefits?

If applicable, out-of-network benefits may cover the cost of sessions for clients with plans from insurance companies that I am not contracted with.

Do you offer reduced rates or sliding scale rates for appointments?

No, at this time, reduced rates or sliding scale rates are not available for online therapy appointments.

Can you see clients in any state?

No, since I am currently only licensed in Maryland, all clients seeking therapy services must be residents of Maryland.

What can I expect for my first online counseling appointment?

The term "intake" is frequently used to describe the first meeting between a client and a counselor. The goal of this session is to find out more about the client, such as their history, current problems, and what they want to get out of treatment. Here, the counselor can learn more about the client and his or her situation and establish trust with the client seeking help.

How long are therapy appointments?

Therapy sessions last between 30-50 minutes.

How often do we meet for therapy appointments?

Varies depending on the needs and treatment goals of each client. During the initial session, we will discuss session frequency. Most clients start out therapy with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. As therapy progresses many clients reduce session frequency until their goals are completed. You can always modify session frequency throughout the therapeutic process.

How much do online counseling sessions cost?

The costs for online counseling sessions range between $125-175.

Do I have to use my insurance benefits for sessions?

No, you are not required to use your insurance benefits for sessions. Please note that if you choose not to use insurance benefits for your sessions, you are 100% responsible for the total cost of each session. Payment must be made at the time of the session.

How do we meet for an online therapy appointment?

All online therapy appointments are conducted via Zoom Healthcare or Simple Practice Telehealth Platform. Each client is provided with their own link prior to their first session.

Are online therapy appointments confidential?

Absolutely! Confidentiality is maintained for online therapy appointments. A HIPPA-compliant platform is utilized for online therapy appointments in order to maintain confidentiality.

What is your cancellation policy?

In the event of a no-show, a request to reschedule, or a cancellation with less than 48 hours’ notice, a fee of $75.00 will be charged. This fee must be paid in order to resume sessions after the missed or late canceled session.
